Modern Splendor + Style

This Kirkland residence represented a significant shift for my clients—seeking a more modern lifestyle after years of living in a very traditional, classic house, they purchased a brand-new spec home once construction was complete. I was brought in to assist with furnishings, finishing touches, and ultimately, ensuring a successful transition.
These clients are refined and elegant; they travel a great deal and enjoy the finer things in life. While the architecture of their new home largely reflected this, functional improvements were needed in the master bedroom. They also wanted the dining room, living room, and deck to be flawless for entertaining.
Design
Because the master bedroom’s existing walk-in closet is on the smaller side, I designed a larger island for the closet and custom casework for the bedroom itself, adding ample storage and bringing warmth to the space.
In the dining and living areas, as well as on the deck, the focus is on the view of Lake Washington and the Olympic Mountains. It was crucial for the furnishings and accents to provide a sense of alignment with the setting and the clients’ modern sensibilities. The furniture is modern yet comfortable, creating an environment of effortless luxury. A variety of artwork offers visual interest throughout, including an exterior installation outside the front door and a painting incorporating shades of green and blue as a focal point at the dining table.
And the spacious deck has the same kind of relaxed-yet-refined vibe, with stone planters that complement the concrete table featuring a built-in fire pit. Whether my clients and their guests are indoors or out, there’s always a perfect spot to marvel at the natural wonderland that is the Pacific Northwest.
