These clients wanted a more spacious feel in their home—an airy environment that was still warm and welcoming. As restaurant owners who love to cook and entertain, creating a beautiful and functional chef’s kitchen was a priority. They also wanted a more refined master bathroom—one that featured a soaking tub, two-person shower and double vanity. Differing visions made this project more challenging: He wanted rustic, natural elements, while she preferred a classic aesthetic.

We opened up the closed-in kitchen, which did a lot more than create more room to cook and entertain—it also provided sweeping panoramic views of Puget Sound. Natural walnut cabinets were selected to anchor the space with a warm, rich, natural appearance, while white upper cabinets and a green-and-white marble backsplash offer a touch of elegance.

In the master bathroom, we created a natural theme with a custom cherry blossom mosaic mural in the tub area serving as the focal point. We also expanded the shower, adding a custom pattern with the tile to add texture and a sense of calm. A rich walnut vanity and branch-inspired light fixtures rounded out the natural theme nicely, resulting in a modern, minimal and light space that maintains a rich feel.
