Rustic Industrial Bath

Image

This small, dated half-bathroom could not be expanded due to the location of nearby stairs, a dormer and the master closet. The challenge was creating a space for the client that felt more modern and open without the ability to make structural changes.

Design

To make the space feel larger, we moved the vanity to the opposite wall, establishing a focal point and opening up the area in front of the entrance. A new skylight also creates the illusion of a higher ceiling while brightening the entire bathroom. Rotating the toilet provided the extra room necessary for a dedicated shower, and features such as the barn door and sliding-glass shower door eliminate obstacles and clearance issues. We even managed to increase storage capacity by utilizing the laundry chute! The unique industrial fixtures were chosen to balance the natural wood elements, with textured tiles (inspired by the clients’ travels) rounding out the look.
